I’m returning to my blog to reflect on my last article, which focused on friendship; particularly the approach of Aristotle. As I explained, his thinking has shaped human thought for centuries. This article was a direct result of a kind of self-reflection;the state you reach when you seek peace and calm, when you trust the present moment, without fearing the future or ruminating on the past.

What surprised me, however, was how few people showed interest or reacted to it.

We often complain about not having enough time, yet much of what we are offered to read is actually very long

: “Though we complain of being short of time, most of what we are served up to read is very long indeed.” (Quotes to Live By, The School of Life, p. 9).

In contrast, I believe my article was short, concise, and brief, yet still deep, without falling into shallowness.

It referred to one of the most well-known philosophers, whose influence remains global and enduring.

And yet, my question remains unanswered,and perhaps it will remain so...

Sure, there are other possible explanations for this lack of interest in the articles, such as the structure of the piece, the style of writing, or simply a shortage of time. I believe that within my community of readers, more than a few are actually stimulated by the content but choose not to react.

Even so, I will continue to explore this field and sharpen my narrative.

There is another reason to the lack of reaction, some peiple just cannot post it technically (my case: I tried and couldn’t get my comment published in the blog and I don’t get the reason why 🙄) I also think that people’s interaction has different motivations, and impact is not measured upon immediate reaction as Pr Sbihi said.. Also, I do believe that lack of time is never a reason.. we do find time to anything that matters.. People always find time to do what really matters to them.

The common good is only defended when personal gain is in imminent danger. Fortunately, truth doesn't come from numbers…Aristotle himself was abandoned by his own people. To return to the subject of friendship, dear Hassane, it's a temporary and fleeting concept. Only childhood friendship is timeless and almost eternal. That goes without saying, since it's innocent and without mutual ulterior motives. Sometimes this intimacy is rediscovered with a book, a cup of coffee, or behind the wheel of a car—moments of intimacy without judgment, without reciprocation, without masks or filters. Sometimes, wouldn't it be better to be alone than in bad company?

The fact that your article on friendship elicited few reactions does not necessarily mean a lack of interest. Silence can be a form of inner reception: some readers read, reflect, but choose not to comment. In philosophy, the impact of a text is often measured in the long term, in the way it settles into the mind. Your approach—writing briefly yet with density, inviting reflection rather than quick consumption—belongs to a demanding tradition. It requires effort, availability, and openness from the reader. And perhaps that is where the true value of your work lies: not in the immediacy of responses, but in the depth of the traces it leaves behind. This was a broad reflection on what could encourage people to contribute more and more, especially considering that friends, both within and beyond English learning groups, are engaging in these reflections and can offer deeper, more insightful analyses to enrich the topic.
